Another game that probably fell under some folks radar was The Red Star from a small publisher XS games (no relation to XSeed games from what i can tell). This title had went m.i.a awhile back when it’s publisher, Acclaim, went belly-up. It’s a hybrid brawler shooter and it’s affordable at under $20 (if you can find it). Check the trailer.
Funny, i don’t know why i haven’t posted this - since i’ve been enjoying the game for almost a year (probably too busy enjoying the game!). Anyway “Shoot The Bullet” is most likely the best game i’ve played all year, on top of that you can purchase it for a mere 15 bucks from paletweb (or himeyashop). To make matters even worse, this game was wholly created by one person, he created the art, music, design and code for this gem. Zun, as he goes by, was featured here.
The goal of the game is to destroy the boss in the level, to do so you have to take a picture of them. The catch is your old kodak has a recharge time, so while it’s recharging you have to survive. And the camera reticle is tethered close to your character, though there is an advance technique allowing you to control the reticle at a loss of player control. Of course as most great shooters the scoring system is top notch, but i won’t go into it here, just pick up a copy if you think you like shooters at all.
Oh and of course, here is a video to tie you over:
PSP seems to be the niche game machine now, with dungeon crawlers being it’s prime genre. One of the more interesting crawlers is Dungeon Maker from Global A released here by XSeed Games. The object of the game (as far as i can gather) is to build bigger and bigger dungeons to attract more powerful enemies that of course drop more powerful items and cash. Enjoy the vid and track down this gem. Read more about the game at its official site here.
This time from game impress tv so they are in japanese, but you can get the idea - and the idea is this game is off the hook! I know chances of it hitting the states is pretty slim but one can hope!
For the young gamer. Sega seems to be on a roll with these things (i think they are being premiered at the world hobby fair going on in japan as we speak)… This site sadly is just a teaser but click anyway.
Nintendo’s Rhytm Tengoku is being ported from DS to Arcade in a joint venture with Sega! Madness, anyway check the vid below if you have no idea what i’m talking about.
Another card game for the young gamers (marine marine i’ve posted here some time ago), this time the theme is dogs, reminds me of nintendogs (superficially of course) but for the arcade. Here’s the official website, i’m sure some youtube vids will be forth coming.
